If you are fan of the history of sportscar racing you must add this magnificent work to your library.

Dr. Janos Wimpffen spent nearly four years compiling race statistics, stories, articles, lies, innuendos, facts and other pertinent and impertinent information about almost every major race run over five decades!

Al Holbert.
Did you know that Kevin Doran, the driving force behind Doran-Lista Racing, once wrenched for Al?
Holbert drove this Chevrolet Monza in the early 1970's in the IMSA Camel GT Series.
Another racer to give the Monza a run was Mike Keyser.  He was the man who produced the incredibly interesting documentary
"The Speed Merchants".
This shot of Mike was taken in the early 1970's at Watkins Glen, where he ran a
Toad Hall Racing Porsche.
And this shot was taken at Lime Rock Park right around the same
point in time.
(Maybe 1976?)
And this is Mike at the Rennsport Reunion at Lime Rock where he was signing autographs and offering various items of interest to sportscar racing fans.

Mike runs Autosport LTD.  He is also the author of the wonderful photo-history
"A French Kiss With Death", which covers the making of the classic movie
"Le Mans", starring Steve McQueen.

Fans of this game would be wise to visit his site and peruse the many wonderful items he has available. You can click here to go there!

The man on your right was both a great driver and a man who recognized talent.  He is Peter Gregg and he took a young Hurley Haywood under his wing back in the early '70s.
Together, and separately, running in cars sponsored by Brumos Porsche in Florida, they competed in
IMSA and Can Am races.
This is the Porsche 917-10 that Hurley drove in the Can Am series.  This photo was taken at the Porsche Rennsport Reunion held in July 2001
at Lime Rock Park.
Yes, that is Hurley
behind the wheel.
Here is Peter Gregg climbing into his Porsche 911 prior to an IMSA Camel GT race
at Lime Rock Park.
And this is the sign that used to hang near the infield entrance to the track.
And those of us who remember seeing the movie Le Mans in theatres will always remember the great racing scenes, which were cutting-edge for the time.  Mike Keyser has been somewhat of a 'keeper of the flame' for that movie and the wonderful memories it evokes. His site features many wonderful bits of memorabilia connected with the film.  For example, this is the latest poster available from Autosport Ltd.  Click on the image to learn how you can get one for your own Le Mans collection!
